It's almost been two years since I made this blog. I think the goal was to have a place to post a few pictures every now and then - I wanted a weekly cadence and that quickly deteriorated into just "whenever" mostly out of laziness but also because for a while I didn't produce any interesting work.
Looking back at 2023, I think I did alright. I didn't do an official count but I think I was able to produce somewhere between 12 to 24 shots that are actually good and a handful more that aren't that interesting but that I personally liked. That's a pretty good year to me.
I was also able to re-scan all of the film that I've shot so far with Photo Laundry, so there's that big task off my chest for now. Having had a little experience with actual pro-grade machines, I'm a little less hesitant with buying a consumer-grade scanner for my parents to go through all the old film that they have. I'll have to think about it a little more.
Looking forward into 2024, I hope to produce around 12 to 24 good shots again but with a higher bar and more cohesiveness in longer-term projects. Right now I think I'm in a space where I've found my voice for landscapes and am working on it for street photography, but all my photography is just one-offs instead of, for example, a hero shot and a few supporting context shots to tell a fuller story.
Alternatively, I'd like to produce groups of photos that are related to each other by a single theme. I think this is more doable, I have a few projects in flight in this direction already.
Enough rambling. Below are a couple of pictures I took while I was in California for a few days taking care of a few tasks. (Oh yeah! I finally moved away recently!)
